I am who I am
Life is an inherent gift; I cannot choose or decide the conditions of my existence, who my parents are, nor my health conditions, whether they are perfect or carry certain imperfections. So, I must choose to live bravely, transparently, and firmly, even though I face the dual challenges of deafness and living with Asperger’s Syndrome. Fortunately, I have been trained with strong IT skills and am adept at navigating the world of emerging technologies. I can thrive in the realm of multimedia arts and flexibly handle various situations regarding design and development.
My life seems to be marked by specific labels. However, I am the one who, despite auditory deficiencies, has found a unique place in the temple of technology. Deafness has not become a shackle in my life; instead, it has become an opportunity for me to surpass ordinary people. In the wave of digitalization, I can “hear” the sound of coding and “see” deeply into the patterns of technology, such as cutting-edge technologies — AI, AR, VR, XR and so on. This is a unique form of communication, a kind of language that belongs only to me.
Moreover, there is a specific characteristic I possess in my life, which is Asperger’s Syndrome. Asperger’s grants me a unique way of thinking, allowing me to view things from an unusual perspective and imagine my life equation with extraordinary thoughts. However, I am not defined by these labels; rather, I showcase my unique personality based on these characteristics, allowing me to stand out in a diverse world.
As I grew up, I often heard people say that I am a “child of the stars,” which is why I like the term “Reach for the Stars.” Yes, I feel a kinship with the stars in the sky. I hope you all know and understand the term “child of the stars.” In Chinese, it describes the uniqueness and brilliance of individuals living with Asperger’s Syndrome, while also reminding people to comprehend their challenges in social and emotional interactions.
As for me, I have my own life equation, which is a quite simple set of mathematical proportions—2:5:3. I call this relationship @253. So, what is the relationship about @253? Let’s say our life’s total value is 10. Then, I would invest 20%, which is 0.2, of my life to enjoy a world of nobility and elegance, immersing myself in realms of high class and temperament. In these moments of extraordinary charm and romantic scenes of life, I can indulge, feel proud, and be narcissistic. Thus, I fully appreciate the splendor of life.
However, life is not all about luxurious high class. Most of the time, I choose to experience ordinary daily life moderately. So, for 50%, which is 0.5, of the time, I choose to face life calmly, regardless of the ups and downs of the journey. I maintain a peaceful mindset to move forward. I try to find the extraordinary in ordinary life and ultimately gain a deeper understanding of the meaning of life.
For the remaining 30%, which is 0.3, I am willing to lower myself to feel the hardships of the human world. Perhaps because I have always experienced some challenges unnoticed by others, I feel that I can better understand the difficulties faced by these people. Therefore, I am willing to share laughter and tears with others. With a tolerant heart, I genuinely experience the richness of real human life.In this complex world, I tell myself that I must excel! I must always be aware and careful to manage my life path by path with clarity and confidence. Remember, life learning is never-ending, so I must be smart in adding value to my life, refining my being, and living out the brilliance of my true self. My deafness and Asperger’s Syndrome are not limitations; on the contrary, they are unique colors and senses that allow me to shine on the stage of life.
Above me, always a blue sky with sunny Sun, keep smile and keep going!
