Life Is Adventure
“Life is a one-way journey toward the unknown. So make it an exciting awesome adventure.” ― Debasish Mridha
This quote resonates deeply with me. Life is an exhilarating journey, one that leads us toward the unknown with each passing day. The unpredictability of our paths is what makes life so thrilling and full of potential. By embracing this journey with an adventurous spirit, we can transform our experiences, making every moment rich with excitement and discovery.
From a young age, I have always had a habit of organizing my life according to an inner schedule that I have set up. I enjoy making plans and then strategizing to achieve the goals I set for myself. Although sometimes plans can’t keep up with changes, I always have a Plan B in place. Some plans can be delayed because Plan B can fill the gaps, I just ensuring that I do not waste time and energy. This approach allows me to maintain confidence and anticipation in my daily life routine.
However, as much as I enjoy planning my schedule, I never know that an unexpected and unpredictable “event” might suddenly disrupt my inner schedule. On the April 2024, I was told that I had developed a serious illness, which led to a long period of medical leave and the start of treatment as scheduled by my doctor. When I fell ill and became vulnerable, I felt my life was threatened. It was truly helpless and frustrating. I could no longer follow my own daily schedule, and now I had no choice but to follow the schedule arranged by the doctor for my health.
At this moment, I began to reflect on what I have been living for my entire life. Why have I fallen ill now? Just because I am also a special needs individual, like my special needs students. I understand the importance of excelling. Only by excelling can I stand out among the masses and be recognized. Therefore, I constantly strive for progress and perform excellent innovation in the field of special education. It is not only to benefit my special needs students but also to support and inspire young and junior teachers to move forward together, creating a beautiful future for our special needs students.
But I never realized that I wasn’t a God; I had been performing a one-man show until I was overloaded and burnt out. Despite my hard work, it went unappreciated and unrecognized by my lady boss. The frustration slowly turned into hatred and anger. Each day at work left me exhausted, and my meticulously planned inner schedule was constantly disrupted. I began to contemplate escaping from this workplace, but I didn’t know how to break free from this workplace that felt like hell. Perhaps it’s because, at this moment, my body, mind, and spirit have all been wounded, leading to my eventual illness.
Yes, life indeed is an adventure. There is always an uncertain ‘event’ that might happen, just like my current journey. I am still undergoing treatment and on medical leave. The only way for me to get back on the right track is to let go of all the hatred and anger, rest well during this period, and ensure that my life can stand up to adventures and trials while keeping calm and peaceful.
Every adventure comes with its set of challenges. For me, living with deafness and Asperger’s Syndrome has been a significant part of my life’s journey. These conditions have presented certain obstacles, but they have also provided unique perspectives and strengths. I’ve learned to navigate the world of technology with ease, turning what could have been limitations into powerful tools for communication and creativity. Each challenge I’ve faced has taught me resilience and has shown me the importance of perseverance.
Life’s adventure is actually about creating your own path and defining what happiness and success mean to you. It involves setting goals, pursuing passions, and not being afraid to take risks. As for me, I’m currently focusing on my treatment and praying for a speedy recovery. I’ve learned the power of perspective—viewing challenges as opportunities and setbacks as setups for comebacks. Appreciating the journey, rather than fixating solely on the destination, can transform our experiences. Every twist and turn, every high and low, contributes to the richness of our lives. Cheers! My life is a great adventure.
